Technical Details
This website has been built to achieve the highest standards of accessibility and interoperability. We have done this by using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and eXtensible Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML) standards. These standards allow us a high degree of freedom with our design while at the same time making our content accessible to all browsers and computing devices without the need to maintain "text-only" or "printer-friendly" duplicates of our pages.
Any drawbacks to this approach?
The only drawback is that many older browsers are not compliant with current style sheet standards (which date back to 1998).
However, style sheets are much kinder to non-compliant browsers than alternative design technologies are to text and voice browsers, mobile devices and so on. This is because they can simply be "hidden" from browsers which can't cope with them, whilst all the important content (text, images, links, etc.) is quite accessible.
If you are using an older brower, such as Netscape Navigator 4 or Internet Explorer 4, you're probably seeing a very plain version of our site with no formatting or styling. If you can upgrade your browser, you might want to consider Mozilla, Opera or Internet Explorer 6. However you will be able to access all the content of this site whether or not you choose or are able to change your browser.
